Way Back Wednesday-2008

In our first edition of Way Back Wednesday we look at each of our past seasons. Today we start with the first season officially for the Out of the Sandbox League, even though many members were already in a league together before this.

As 2008 season started it looked like Santino may be the team to beat. He got off to a hot start and maintained it throughout the year, ending the season at 11-3 and as the one seed going in to the playoffs. The two seed was the man they call Tirico as he finished the year 10-4 and was balanced all year long. In 3rd and 4th were Steve and Sloney, who both were 9-5. Steve started the year with two losses in a row but was able to right the ship and make the semi finals .

In the semis Santino took on Sloney and his dream quickly became a nightmare as the number one seed went down 103-71. Sloney was in the title game awaiting the winner between Tirico, who I guess is actually his brother who's name is Matt? we are looking in to it, and Steve. Tirico was favored but he too went down 115-86 to set up a finals match up between Steve and Sloney.

In the 3rd place match up Santino was able to rebound and beat Tirico 100-86 to claim 3rd place. In the finals Sloney showed to be too much for Steve as he put up an impressive 141 points in winning the title 141-114. That 141 points was the most points scored by Sloney all season, and even though he went in to the playoffs loosing his last three games, his team was able to right the ship and play their best games at the most important times to come away with the first Out of the Sandbox League championship Trophy.

It must hurt BMR that Desean Jackson was on Sloney's team that year, meaning he is a Out of the Sandbox League Champ... and Best Man Robb is not. Randy Moss, Anquan Bolden, Matt Cassel, Reggie Bush, Steven Jackson, Warrick Dunn, Ryan Grant, Kurt Warner, and Dallas Clark were all also on Sloney's 2008 championship team.

The League was off and running and it was clear that this would be a fantasy football league that would last for decades to come. Next Wednesday we will look at the 2009 season. Don't miss it.
