2022 Draft Recap
Well, I have been slacking, but with a job schedule change I have some time in the mornings to get some stuff done, and since we all know there are many things a man can do with his time, but fantasy football is better than those things, let's get after it.
First off, the draft was a success for sure. Rite Aid did a great job hosting, my sources are telling me that everyone really liked the board room feel of the draft. Jennifer & Ronny may have had a little too much fun, but hey, it happens. Sources close to the situation say they were Derek at Hooters drunk, just not Sloney in a yard drunk.
Anyway, let's look back at the draft.
Hilltop Creepers:
What do you do when you are awesome enough to win a sports Emmey? You have the #1 pick and then make a trade for #2 to come out with Run CMC and JT before BMR could even order his food from Derek. Add that with Patty Mahomes and Diggs and Samuel and Mr. Football has all the makings as a top team for the 2022 season. He does need to drop someone and add a kicker but even without one now he is still projected to win week 1. Of course, our week 1 picks will come out next week, so let's not get ahead of ourselves. Depth of his wide outs are strong with Godwin and Lockett, and he has the Washington RB who didn't just get shot so that's a positive, too soon?
Season Projection: Make the Finals
Golden Gate:
Derek, never change. Trading the #2 pick in the draft and still having Kamara and Barkley as his two starting RB. with Cam and Mixon at flex, Derek has serious Flex appeal. Lamar Jackson was playing like a MVP last year with no RBs, now getting healthy, I love him this year, plus he has Bateman to double up points. Pitts is a great TE, minus the team and QB he has, but still great talent, I have always loved Aiyuk, one could say too much, and the 49er defense should be among the league's best. He must add a kicker as well, but when he does, he would be projected to give Hootie his first loss in league history.
Season Projection: Lose in Semi Finals
Hootie N Blowfish World Tour:
A very nice draft debut for this league newcomer, seemed to fit right in, and worked his plan and got some nice depth. You know injuries are going to happen, so having a strong bench is important. His starters are very solid, and Singletary and Gordon are very nice RB depth. If Ju Ju on that beat has a nice bounce back season in KC, we may have a first year GM in the playoffs. All I know is I only want to be with you, cause I'm such a baby the Dolphins make me cry.
Season Projections: Lose in Semi Finals
Jennifer & Ronny:
Like Pam Anderson in the 90's this team is very top heavy. Two starting RB and two starting WR are great, Kittle is an amazing tight end. Higgins and M Williams are top WR for the Flex, Russel Wilson should help Denver look like a real team, Thielen I expect a big year from and with Kenny Walker II out for who knows how long, Penny is the clear #1 in Seattle. If Hall can become a player this has the makings of a nice team and a bounce back season for the Horses Ass "winners" Of course, both wide outs are on new teams, Henry has such a big workload for years, when will he fall off, and without WR weapons more defenses will try to stop Jones in Green Bay. The bench definitely needs work, and I expect an active waiver wire. This team should make the playoffs, but if you forgot, I never pick them, so.
Season Projection: Back-to-Back Horses Ass
Under Contruction:
A very fitting name for this team. We all love BMR and trust his abilities to put a good team together so he can get 2nd place, but I am not sure how he will make it happen this year. I love Cook, and Williams should be fine, and you know St Brown is a good wide out for the Lions, but after that, not a whole lot of guys that make me jump for joy. Now Burrow in the 11th is great value and he should have a great year, so maybe with the right moves, Best Man Robb finds a way to get this team to the playoffs.
Season Projection: Miss the Playoffs
All Madden Boom:
Tiricoooo has some nice pieces, and I really like his depth on the bench, has a lot of options and some good players. But going with the Dallas defense and Dak, he is just asking me not to like his team. I am also not big on the Browns this year, so not sure the kind of year Chubb will have. I can definitely see this team making a run, but only 6 can make the playoffs, so...
Season Projection: Miss the Playoffs
Forgive and Fournette:
First, our draft host has a great team name, and he will need Fournette to forget what year it is and go back to when he was a 1100-yard 9 touchdown a season back. Kyler should have a good year, at least he looks good on film, see what I did there? Cooks scares me because the Texans should be suck out loud bad, and starting a RB that does not start for his own team is not always great, but the bench has good depth and if he does not get to busy buying shipping containers, the former Dean, Wiseguy, should find his way to the playoffs.
Season Projection: Make the Playoffs
The Kupp of Life
Great starters, solid bench, our commissioner always shows a lot of heart and this year at the draft was no different. I am of course not a fan of Zeke, but Herbert, AJ, Coop, and Mr. Harris make up for it. Plus Hock is a great tight end. Has both Dallas RB, so he is covered there, which is smart, and I am really hoping Toney Tonet Toney in the 10th turns out to be his best pick. He dude is stupid talented, just needs to put it all together, the O Line needs to block and then DJ that's my DJ needs to show he is at least a serviceable NFL QB.
Season Projection: Make the Finals
Kiss my Grits
First of all, I will not kiss anything of Santino's, 2nd, Josh Allen is great, his 3rd cousin twice removed Keenan Allen is too. I am a big Jeudy fan, especially now that he has a real QB, has some good RB depth but not that one super star. But both Conner and Montgomery are very capable of having big weeks. With the added playoff teams, more teams stay in it longer this season and that should help.
Season Projection: Make the Playoffs
George and Weezy
Our defending champ, I hope you really enjoy the trophy this year DP, have a great time. Hurts QB, no, starting two TE, even those two, no, JK coming off injury, Cooper's team is a train wreck, CEH has yet to put it all together, a bench of backups, almost hoping starters get hurt. I love Jefferson, and Waddle runs very fast, other than that, I wouldn't say we will see another first to worst or anything, but Michigan's favorite High School Athletic Director's team may look a lot of his high school football team. The Maroon Giants will rest up for winter sports season.
Season Projection: Miss the Playoffs
Of course, now that this is done, the team projected to miss the playoffs will be in the finals. You may have noticed I did not pick a champion just the two teams playing in the finals. Have to leave something for future posts.
Have a great season, good luck to all, but in the words of one of the worst humans ever to play fantasy sports in a tv show (And also DX)... SUCK IT!
