NFL First round picks Fantasy Projections
The 4 day, or whatever they do now to ruin the draft, event that is the NFL draft began last night and while this looks to be a very deep draft for lineman on both sides of the ball there is some skill position players that will go in this year's drafts that fantasy managers will begin to scout and look at to potentially make a impact during the 2019 season. Here is a look at the 8 "skill" position players drafted in the first 32 picks last night.
Kyle Murray QB Cards #1-New coach, so a new start... tough break for that QB they drafted in the top ten last year...Murray should play right away... I mean what other option do they have? Last year a Heisman winner QB from Oklahoma went #1 and did some nice things when he got in... Will Murray do the same? Or will he show everyone that he should have stuck with baseball? As a late round pick may be something to think about for someone with a high celling, if it works. Personally I think he will Drew Henson it and be back in baseball in 3 years or so.
Daniel Jones QB Giants #6-Can't miss, future Hall of Famer. Not just the best QB in the draft, but the best player in the draft not just this year, but maybe ever. He will take over from Eli by game 3 at the latest and lead the Giants to at least 3 Super Bowl wins in his career. Take him in the first round Tirico, it's the only sure thing in this years draft.... But seriously, will not see the field this year and when he does, he will suck.
TJ Hockenson TE Lions #8-Position of need, but the list of TE taking in the top ten since 1990... not the best. Gives Matthew Stat-ford a big target and he is not a dropper so that is a positive. Late round flyer, I do think he will be the starter from day 1... I mean he dang well better.
Dwayne Haskins QB The Washington's #15-The best QB in the draft will turn out to be Dwayne Haskins. If he wasn't before, he will be now. Plus he gets to play the team who should have drafted him, WHERE HE WANTED TO PLAY AT, twice a year. He is going to tear it up. I see him sitting the first 5-6 games maybe and then tearing it up. Not someone that has to be drafted yet, I don't think, but a FA pick up.
Noah Fant TE Denver #20-Two tight ends go in the top 20, and both went to Iowa. Noah may turn out to be a very good player up in the Mile High City but he should not be on anyone's draft board, besides BMR, but that is only because his draft binder list the top 100 in each position.
Josh Jacobs RB Raiders #24-Josh is in the best position to make a big impact in fantasy from day 1. The Oakland, LA, California, Vegas Raiders need a RB, especially after Marshawn Lynch retired, again. The talented RB from Bama now has to go to a team with less talent than the one he was on last year, but he will get carries and finish with 800 yards and about 5 TDs. Good for a late round pick.
Marquise "Hollywood" Brown WR Ravens #25-Another guy in a great spot for him is Hollywood Brown. He will help Lamar Jackson right away, and I see him connecting for 6-8 TD catches on the year. I mean the dude's nickname is Hollywood... what could possible go wrong? Things in Hollywood always last.
N'Keal Harry WR Patriots #32-The last first round pick gives another weapon to Tom Brady, #goat, and the Super Bowl Champs. Loosing Gronk to retirement/WWE/movies some thought maybe the Pats would actually try to move up and draft a TE, or do what they normally do and trade out of the first round for later round picks that will turn in to all pros. In stead they stay put and draft a almost 6'3 228 WR from Arizona State. Who is a great route runner and incredible shifty on the field. Punt returner type cuts like Dave Megget or Troy Brown, perhaps, before him. N'Keal is the real deal. You just know he is going to become an all pro WR, then sign a big contract with another team, and then not do a lot.
Round 2 through 7 still to come the rest of this weekend, and we will have a full recap of skill position players on Monday.
